Chapter 14 part 2

In this section of chapter 14, we learned about the Atlantic Slave trade

Millions of beautiful Africans were stripped of everything they had because the Europeans needed someone to do their work for them. Europeans invaded Africa and snatched people from their families and treated them inhumane and harshly. When in the middle passage Africans died in large amount of numbers from terrible treatment, some of these beautiful souls decided to commit suicide because dying was better than living in captivity. But one of the wild things I learned in this chapter that had me shook was that African elites would sometimes trade salves to europeans in exchange for tobacco, gunpowder, and alcohol. I never really knew this, I thought for the most part that these African elites would be hella protective over their own people.

Documents- Voices From the Slave Trade:

Also pieced with this reading of the second part of chapter 14 was the reading of an African mans journey to slavery. This mans name was Equiano. In this reading we learn from Equiano that suffered terrible treatment in the middle passage. We also were shown that to the Europeans, Africans were just property and not humans. When they were sold it was just like any ordinary business to these colonizers. This is is just gross to know that there can be little to none type of morality in these people.
