Chapter 16 part 1
In this first part of chapter 16, we learned about revolutions all around the world and how these revolutions were an inspiration for other revolutions.
North American Revolution:
The American revolution started in 1756 and ended in 1783. The purpose of this revolution was for the 13 colonies to claim independence from Britain's rule. When Britain had control over the 13 colonies they were imposing heavy taxes on people living in the colonies. The people of the 13 colonies did not like this and they decided to go to war with Britain so that they can live freely and become more democratic. This revolution was important and unique because a new tactic of war was introduced known as guerrilla warfare. This revolution was just one of the many to start and it inspired many others.
French Revolution:
The French Revolution started in 1789 and ended in 1799. This revolution began when the king of France needed help from representatives from 3 social classes. When they all met up, the commoners declared that everybody was equal disregarding social class. From here things got popping very quickly. Peasants in France went around killing everybody that seemed to oppose their cause. These peasants were so caught up in killing people they even caught the queen and king and killed them too! Hella crazy how these peasants really went and slid on everybody that disagreed with them. The revolution didn't stop here though, the French now made change to all the old things from before. They created a new calendar, became a republic, formed a big army with people from all social classes. Then after this more common people started to become more involved with the government.
Haitian Revolution:
This revolution started in Haiti because the damn white people there didn't want to extend their rights to the slaves living in Haiti. Not a big surprise tho, white people had been doing this to slaves for hella long already. However, the slaves weren't putting up with this and decided to revolt. The slaves were led by Toussaint Louverture. This revolution went on for 13 years an ended with the slaves being successful in the revolt. This was the only slave revolt in history that was successful.
Latin America Revolution:
This revolution started because there was heavy taxes and tariff held against the people of Latin America. This revolution took longer in latin America abacus elf the division between race and social class. In this revolt leaders united POC against the elites promising the POC freedom. However, this revolt wasn't successful and lead to impoverishment, lead to Latin America being underdeveloped, and made them really dependent on foreigners..
