Chapter 22

In this chapter I learned about hella stuff again. This stuff is so interesting to it's pretty cool. So like in the chapter I learned that Africans started to overthrow European rule. Also that in the 20th century hella empires started to fall. I learned that India, Gandhi led protests against British rule after experiencing racial segregation. Gandhi's protests were peaceful and he became a important role model to many in the future. While Gandhi was doing his thang, India was divided between hinds and muslims, so like when they achieved independence, muslim Pakistan became a separate country. Over in south africa, the minority white people were dominant, while the majority population of blacks were "beneath" the whites. The blacks and whites were separated by the apartheid policies. When I learned this it wasn't like surprising but was at the same time, almost everywhere that these damn colonizers went, they implied segregation and racial inequality. Anyways, t...

Chapter 21

In this chapter we learned that places in the world took on communism because it promised freedom from inequality, oppression, and exploitation. However, communism challenged western democracy, which led to an arms race between Russia and USA. During this time, a bunch of countries underwent revolutions to become communist. Russia joined the Eastern European communist countries in the Warsaw pact. Then Russia and china formed a treaty called the friendship treaty of 1950. WW1 caused hella Russian people to be upset and caused them to make their own political parties and overthrow the elites. In china the communist started off small but gained back up from rural workers and women. in Russia and china they created laws to empower women more, such as, legalizing divorce, making marriage more of a choice to women, and easier hiring for women. Both of these governments redistributed land from the landlords to give to peasants. There was an increase in urbanization, higher number of ed...

Chapter 20

In this chapter hella stuff went down for real. I learned how WW1 was basically just Europe fighting itself which resulted in the great depression, the rise of nazi Germany, and WW2. So after Europe was done fighting themselves, there was a new super power of the west and it was the USA. However, the USA was facing it's own problems as they were deep into the Great Depression. During the Great Depression, banks closed, there was a drop in world trade, and hella people became unemployed. While this was happening in the US, Italy was outbreaking in racism, Mussolini came to power, and bad things were happening in Germany. Here's where things get wild, in Germany Hitler was on the rise to power as he promised all his German homies that he was gonna help Germany rise, and everybody was with it because they were already dissatisfied with the leadership of Weimar Regime. So basically after that, Hitler comes to power and starts creating a bunch of propaganda and stuff brainwashing pe...

Chapter 19

In this chapter we learned about how the British sold the Chinese opium during the 1800's. We also learned about how china was a successful state but soon collapsed and became very reliant and dependent on Europe. There were many revolution that took place in china at this time. One of these revolutions was the Taiping Uprising. In this revolution the main goals were to industrialize china and to empower women and give equalize them compared to men. However, this was taken down as there was division in leadership. During this time in China, the west found a market for opium in china and began to supplying China with opium which led to hella Chinese becoming addicted. The Chinese government took note of the opium problem and put restrictions on opium and opium use, but when they did this the British used military force to end the restrictions and bring the opium flow back in china, while gaining access to ports in china for trading. This made me think of how Ronald Reagan planted dr...

Chapter 18

In this chapter we learned about how Europeans turned to imperialism in order to sell their products and acquire raw materials. During this stage on Europe's industrial revolution;ution the views themselves as superior, and had the thought they were destined to rule over everybody else. This made me think about how many white people have this same mentality today, and made me question if anybody in our government has this mentality and thats the reason for systematic injustice. Further along in the chapter we learned that in some parts of Africa, Europeans turned African people against each other. In other areas the Europeans used military force to colonize Africa. When Europeans went to Australia and New Zealand, they killed off a lot of the natives with the diseases that they brought. The colonialism that Europeans were practicing around the world was negative and was killing off people and culture, along with destroying homes and land. We also that Europeans promoted western edu...

Chapter 17

From 1750-1900 Europe started to industrialize and started to dominate globally. The industrial revolution was also significant in Europe because Europe was able to draw resources from their colonies. Also, because Europe was motivated by profit and money and because it was encouraged by the European government.  The industrial revolution specifically started in Britain because Britain had a lot of available workers and it would be easy to create companies. There were so many available workers because people started to leave the agriculture work and started to move towards manufacturing and mining because they paid better. The industrial revolution in Britain led to the middle class benefiting the most and the working class to suffer. The working class suffered because they had to work long hours and reviewed terrible pay. They also had to move to overcrowded cities that were filled with poor sanitation. As the population continued to rise many people began to migrate to the Amer...
